Big news here today. Proud announcement that babies from 6 months old and children up to 9 will be among the "volunteers". If adults want to do this, it's their funeral - but how can a 6mo baby give informed consent to being a "guinea pig"? And what loving parent would submit their child to be one? It infuriates me!

Swine flu vaccine trials to begin today

Article from: AAP

TRIALS of a swine flu vaccine ordered by the Federal Government will begin today.

The Government has ordered 21 million doses of the vaccine being made by biotechnology company CSL.

The Royal Adelaide Hospital trials will take about seven months to complete, but CSL says there'll be enough initial results for the Government to plan distribution from October.

Some 240 volunteers will take part in the trial, with some to get a single dose and others a double dose.

This is a horrible prospect! All I can think of is that Kiwi guy who did the cancer drug trial in the UK and ended up looking like the elephant man... who in their right mind would do a drug trial least of all put their children up for it?

So these parents are caring and loving? but those who choose not to vaccinate are called child abusers...makes no sense:eek:

makes no sense to me either magical1. And if they are testing only 240 people for less than 3 months then the mind boggles what could happen to 20 million people over a lifetime. They are going to send this out blind....... but then whats new.....

It really shakes my ever diminishing, pretty much non existant faith in the "system"

so, will this trial be of 240 unvetted people who walk off the street? you know, like all the people who will be told to just go and have the vaccine?

Nope.

Wonder where they will publish the exclusion criteria.

There will always be useful idiots around to volunteer and no doubt the parents who have offered their children to the pig pharma have delusions they are offering a service to others and being good citizens.

There is no cure for this sadly.

I bet some of the parents who volunteer will think that they are protecting their children. So much scaremongering has to have scared someone.

not just protecting their children but standiing up and protecting the community. Picture an Uncle Sam type image here... Taking one for the good of the people.

So very very sad. So many people are willing to put their children at risk thinking they are doing the best for them ARGHH. They will think they are giving them a head start on the immunisation :(

I was just wondering about this today, as my aunt mentioned they would have done a trial already if they are releasing the vax. But I said if they were, it was a super short one and we don't know the long term effects. So it started in July and only 240 people? Has there been an update on this-is it published anywhere?

There asking for volunteers here in Florida for another trial-one to establish wether they need to use 1 or 2 vax doses to be effective. Pregnant women or if you might become preg are not to be signing up. They are only using 100 people for the study.

I'm aghast they insist children be test subjects. They have to in order to "get the right dosage," which they are still working on, on children here in the states. They pay a family $1800 per child.
