Sorry if this doesn't go here , please move if needed.

I bought a jar at Supermarket which claims it is Manuka Honey 5+ active for $9. Brand is BeeVital.

Then in the Chemist I see Manuka 5+ Active for $20.95  Brand is Comvita.

So what am I not being told ? They are both claiming to be the same product. Manuka Honey 5+ Active.

Ingredients in both is 100% honey.

Both are the edible type of honey. You can put that on wounds right ?

Or do you need to buy the sterilised brand of honey for wounds ?

I would probably want something stronger than 5+ for wounds. It's great for sore throats though :)

I bought regular edible honey from our loal honey shop - it gets marketed as medial honey as well though. When I bought it for my first aid kit I got the highest I ould find - 15-20% atie - and for 250gm was about $25. What you'e got is a good start though.

It's all to do with the pollen count and I don't think there is much regulation in the industry.

What I will say though is you need manuka honey in glass jars... not in plastic. If you have to buy it in plastic transfer it to glass when you get it home.

Yes on wounds it is fantastic... even for MRSA... proven with research.

Yes, there was a news item on the late news last night about the regulation. They tested 8 produts and 2 failed to meet the rating on the bottle.
