I'm not sure the age range here, but I'm going to guess a good portion of us received the DTP and I've been thinking about that. I've had people tell me that "Well, we've had the DTP and are fine and it was worse than the DTaP, so...".
Anyone ever think about them having had the DTP and the possible effects?

According to my records, I only ever had one P at the age of 8 years of age. Which I shouldn't have had, since you're not supposed to have it after the age of 6.

Hi, I had the Polo on a sugar cube at the age of 7 in 1976. (England) I know it was 1976 as we all recieved a Silver Jubille mug for eating the sugar cube! Other than that I did not recieve any vaccines because, as my mother said "there was a history of asthma in the family". From listening to my mum it sounded like back then there was not the pressure there is today to vaccinte your children. I could be wrong though.

Pressure depends on the time and place. I missed several months of school with my siblings because New Jersey wouldn't let us enroll without vaccines. However, we all went to school in California, New York, Wisconsin and Massachusetts without problems. This was in the 1950s and 1960s. And my daughter was able to attend school in California, Missouri and Canada without all of her vaccines.

Trouble is, we don't really know that DTP is 'worse' than the DTaP :). We only found out that DTP was not exactly holy water because DTaP was in the works and market needed a slogan. We also know that they are different and DTaP does not seem to have as many of the same known effects that DTP would have but we didn't have much time (or intention really) to look for its own issues...
I had repeated eposodes of whooping cough many times over childhood and last time as an adult (AFAIR it was also a common thinking that DTP was supposed to have been more effective for pertussis than DTaP?).
And speaking of 'we are fine, so...' - there was a scientist in Kazakhstan who had a population of rabbits vaccinated by the childhood schedule of the time (a lot more modest than nowadays) in the early-mid 90-s. In every generation. It took five. Fifth generation of those rabbits didn't make it to childbearing age. But those who survived the first generations shots were fine.
