Hello Everybody,
I am new to this board but am slowly finding my way around it, after some research and information gathering on Vitamin K, my second concern is breastfeeding and raw milk.
I used to drink raw milk before I became pregnant and returned to store bought pasteurized organic milk during my pregnancy, as my due date is arriving soon I am wondering if I can go back to drinking raw milk while I breastfeed?
I really miss the good taste of the milk from the local farm,....and so does the rest of the family!
Does anybody have experience or information in regards to drinking raw milk while they were/ are breastfeeding?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I lived in rural Missouri for about 6 years. During that time three women in my circle gave birth, to a total of 4 children, all of whom were breastfed. They were all working on a dairy farm that produced cheese. All of them drank raw milk throughout their pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Since one of the three was actually running the dairy farm and milking the cows, along with her husband, she knew the actual health of all of the cows directly and knew that the milk was safe.
So, if you have a milk source where the cow is well-cared for, grazes on good pasture, etc., I can't see any reason to avoid raw milk.

Yes MV, the milk source is good, the farm is near a Waldorf school, lots of the locals buy their milk there and the cows do look happy (in a natural non-California kind of way)! ;)

I've never let modern hysteria led medical advice stop me eating exactly what my body craves in pregnancy. If you are healthy, and the rest of your diet is just fine, then un passed your eyez'd milk should be no problem. neither should coleslaw either, another food that the medical profession here has seizures over in pregnant mothers.

Actually none of my doctors knew about me drinking raw milk, nor did I crave it, it was more of an informed decision on my behalf to drink pasteurized milk during my pregnancy.
Now why they would deny you coleslaw is beyond my understanding, probably the same reason why they won't let you eat deli meat around here either, but salad is o.k. and the 2 page list of "safe" medications they give you to take while you are pregnant and breastfeeding???
I guess I should be alright than with breastfeeding and raw milk. Thanks for your replies!
