Now we know if this were an "outbreak" of a vaccine preventable disease, and it was at a 25% death rate, there would probably be a lock down already in the US. Looks like some type of evergreen fungus. I haven't looked into transmission rate, like if some one is infected, can they breathe out the fungal spores? I would imagine if it could travel that way, there would be more scattered cases, and I'm wondering when logging season started up there?
Sort of reminds me of that movie "The Happening", hee hee. The plants are retaliating!
