I was doing real well keeping cold sores at bay with zinc but it does not seem to be working now. I managed a whole year without one and now they seem to want to come up every 3 months or so which is a total pia. Is there anything else nutritional I can do to get rid of them before they come up and blister?

Take L-Lysine 1000mg+ daily to help prevent the virus from activating (take even more if you have a flair up atm).
And take stock of your health atm.. they normally rear their ugly heads when your immune system is some how compromised.

Mine are usually triggered by stress. Recently I have noticed how much our health is effected by our mental state. Not just what we put in our mouths.

I take Lysine with zinc and vit c. One tablet per day. Works for me.

I think I hit it with some zinc as it has stopped itching totally. I am not near a shop now probably for a couple of days but I will get some l-lysine when i am. What are good food sources of L-lysine?

LOL Try some lipoC on it, as a paste. Swallow the rest.

My problem I have with LipO C is it is so damm expensive. I have been having car dramas so my disposable budget has been somewhat negatively effected. I am having to stick with SA powder as I have it already. Right now the threatening sore has disappeared so I am under control. I can't guarantee this will last so I am going to get some Lysine when I am in town next, just in case.
Slightly OT but I have been wondering if Lipo C is absorbed dermally? Back to my obssesion with wrinkles lol!

Thankyou. I will check that out.
Interesting piece of the puzzle. When I am buying the Lysine, the woman behind the counter tells me if I am getting a cold sore to stay away from chocolate, almonds & coffee. I always thought it was chocolate & peanuts. Since I never eat peanuts & I don't really do chocolate, I never think about it. But she reckoned there is something in the other things she mentioned which prevent lysine absorption. She may be simply misspouting something but I thought that was interesting as guess who is a serious coffee addict & if I get stressed, I drink way way more!
