Hi There,

I thought I'd start a thread on hepatitis C since that is a chronic illness I have had to live with for a very long time. It affects most people to some degree or another, and usually over time one can end up with various symptoms like chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, jaundice, arthritic pains, headaches, fluctuating thyroid, becoming underweight, over bleeding, depression, blood sugar problems, and sometimes, eventually cirrhosis of the liver and/or liver cancer. There are a lot more subtle symptoms too which I won't get into right now.

Anyway, I thought I'd start this thread and try to get some positive stories from people who are coping with this illness. We shouldn't let this illness define who we are too much. It would be nice to hear positive stories of things people have been doing to make things better for themselves.

ie. Have any supplements helped you cope? What about diet? How about working with your mental attitude....has that been of use to you?

My mom has Hep C. Got it from a blood tranfusion in the 1960's. Never knew she even had it until about 20 years ago.
She sees a doc who is into alternative medicine as well and has done homeopathic stuff (gets stuff from germany) for her digestive issues, but also takes low dose interferon. She is also on a whole boatload of supplements which I know help her a great deal. Her viral loads go up and down but for the most part she is doing ok and again has had this disease since her 30's (she's 73 now).

That sounds like a pretty positive story Cartersmum. It is certainly possible to live a full and normal life for some people with Hep. C. It sounds like your mum is one of those, though obviously she is spending a bit of money on supplements.

Do you know which supplements she believes have helped her the most?

Geez I couldn't say. I know she takes Nutra FOS, Proboost, high Vit C, Id have to ask her what else. I will as she is actually visiting me right now and will post back.
