Hi Grandma:D from the other Grandma.

You probably picked up some community nasty from the surgery when they did it. So, .. how big is the area? Where abouts on the leg is it? Thigh? Shin? Behind the knee? Where?

Again, the key to wound healing is the body. In terms of the wound, clean it out with a saline solution. for the skin immunity to work best, it needs the ph of sea-water... Then mix a bit of sodium ascorbate with manuka honey, put some on the wound, then slather the rest on some paranet; put glad wrap on the back of the paranet, and either bandage or whatever that in place.

Have you any idea what your body ph is?

Given that it was squamous cell carcinoma, I suspect that your ph might be around 5.0 whereas you want it around 7.0, but I could be wrong. Only one way to find out.

To being the ph level up, you might need to deal with some mineral deficiency issues, and vitamin D issues. But lets see first...

Given that you have carcinoma issues, I'd recommend that you look at this supplement:

and read this book: http://www.zealandpublishing.co.nz/Cancer%20book.html

Can you ask your doctor for a vitamin D test? I'm thinking you might have low levels?

Regardless of what your doc says is "normal" if your levels are less than 50-80 ng/mL you need to take around 4,000 IU's a day over the winter.

You need to be taking vitamin C, lots of vegetables and fruit, AND you need to be eating lots of garlic. If no-one likes your breath, offer them some to eat so that they won't notice... ;)

yes, let us know please.... :D If it gets really bad, I can always offer information on my favorite cure for diabetic ulcers that don't heal.

Maggots.

some good medical studies on them now too. Just that the docs are a bit squeemish, coz of the link with flies, and we all remember the posters on how dangerous flies are don't we ;)

I would have loved to see you put maggots on your leg. I would have got spewed on for that........

I'm glad you've been supplementing. Hopefully your levels will stay stable and not drop further....

Maggot treatment is absolutely fantastic, because maggots have a sort of antibiotic in their "saliva". They only eat necrotic tissue and won't touch healthy tissue. They are used in some hospitals, because maggots can go where surgery can't, and can clean up wounds that antibiotics don't.

So, when you feel slightly less nauseous on the idea, do a google search. You might be really surprised.

I first heard about maggot treatment from WWI vets from Europe who used it on their wounds in Flanders during the war. They used to hide away from the medics, because everyone with leg wounds who went to the medic tents, would end up minus their infected legs. So the soldiers who didn't like that idea, used to leave the wounds open, encouraging maggots and then using cotton lint, bind it up for a few days.

Apart from the fact that it tickles, they told me that maggot cleaned wounds healed fantastically. It was very rare for any of those old codgers to land in hospital with any type of skin abscess or anything, because they all continued to use maggots where the need arose, until they died, or ... I guess... lost their memory.

Amazing story about the Maggots Ms Inca Alligator. I have heard too that some hospitals are using maggots. What a great low-tech solution.

Pity they don't think to use other methods too that really work, such as goldenseal, the bioptron light machine (which can heal chronic bedsores in hospitals), and of course homeopathic remedies.

I believe in Auckland hospital they have resorted to using manuka honey in some cases of antibiotic resistent infections.
