Since my son was on ABs for his staphed up face he has had the STINKIEST breath in the world. WE are talking TOXIC, turn your head the other way and not want to cuddle him breath.
So I am thinking its his trashed gut. Would this be a fair call........?
Now to fix it cause OMG its ripe. I am thinking a probiotic assault and lots of fermented food but what else? What sort of foods should I avoid.
Its def since the ABs. He started stinking when he got the staph and hasnt stopped.
Thanks.

Yes, absolutely....
And it will have napalmed his mouth flora too, and that will need altering.

Yes, lots of probiotics foods, juices... but he also needs the lots of the prebiotics - the fibre that probiotics live in.
Its def since the ABs. He started stinking when he got the staph and hasnt stopped .Thanks.
Also, make sure that he doesn't eat in the two to three hours before he goes to bed. That way his liver will work better during the night.

My husband had stinky breath a while back... which was hard to tell him but when I did he got straight onto it.... this is the information that we learnt that I believe to be true and we used a product from the States called TheraBreath.... now how you turn this info into sweet breath without using the products we used may be a bit more tricky.
caused by anaerobic bacteria that live beneath the surface of your tongue. These bacteria are not "bad guys", rather they are a normal part of your oral environment and break down the proteins in foods, your natural oral tissue, and in mucus or phlegm. During this process of breaking down these proteins, they extract sulfur from the amino acids, and produce Volatile Sulfur Compounds such as Methyl Mercaptan (which smells sort of like dirty socks) and Hydrogen Sulfide (the "rotten egg" smell).
These bacteria are anaerobic, which literally means "without the presence of oxygen". They breed by the billions deep within the fibers (papillae) of the tongue because in normal circumstances, oxygen cannot penetrate beneath the surface of the tongue.
Fundamentally, preventing bad breath is simple...you must introduce oxygen into the environment (http://www.therabreath.com/IWantFreshBreath/science.asp) of these anaerobic bacteria. That's it.
So I may be wrong so anyone come forward to negate without the Therabreath... Baking soda, gargle with H2O2... MT can you think of any other ways to introduce oxygen?

I've no idea if this would help the breath situation, but My son is on a healing gut protocol from our ND (after ABX and yeast overgrowth) and besides probiotics, and kefir, he has him taking pure whole leaf aloe vera juice. 2 tbs twice a day. My son is 14 months old so the dose may be more for a bigger child. But so far it has helped his issues alot and it's only been a few weeks.
My brother swears by aloe vera as well. i may start taking it myself :D

It's different for adults too. I got rid of my breath issues by not eating protein last thing in the day, and not eating after 6 oclock at night.
but that's not perhaps so easy for a child.

yeah, we have dinner between 5.15-5.45 and they are in bed at 7. But, day 2 of FULL ON probiotic and its starting to smell less and his farts are less toxic too. I think its the ABs. I am going to get some Aloe too.
I might give him a mouthwash too. Could be fun. Is H202 ok to swallow in dilute amounts. He shouldnt but you never know. He is only 3.

Ditto what everyone else said about gut health
Parsley can mask the smell in the meantime :)

YES................ I have been having Dr dramas lately. As in, questioning their stupidity. ONe day I am going to apply to med school and get in just to show some of these Drs that I am no less intelligent than them, just chose a different path to them.:D

Well we did full on probiotic and it kind of helped but it still STANK in the morning. So I taught him to gargle in the bath over a week or so and in the last 2 days I have given hi watered down H202 to gargle. I did it myself too to see what it would be like and taste like etc. Made my tongue for all furry and gross and his went all white and slimy and salivery too, but IT WORKED......
crazy, who would have thought.
I love that can cuddle him in the morning without telling him not to breathe on me......
FANTASTIC.

The liver shuts down the minute you go to sleep. So if there is undigested food requiring the liver, like protein or fats..., that can also be the cause of morning compost mouth.
It's one of the reasons I don't eat after 6 at night.

We eat around 5-5.30 ish and the kids go to bed at 7 so this could be part of it too.

Yes, I hear bad breath or halitosis is usually the result of incomplete digestion. Though having rotten adenoids is a possible cause too.
I had the worst bad breath once, when I was 15. Nothing would make it go away. I tried listerine untold times. Then someone suggested I eat a lemon.
It worked instantly!!

I have a reason for his breath. He has had a foreign body stuck inside his nose decaying and going yuck for over 5 MONTHS........... crazy. He has to have it surgically removed on Saturday. Crazy aye................. I need to get soome prebiotic and stuff into him pre surgery. Anything else.

Oh my goodness.
When you say it's decaying that would lead you to the simple conclusion that it isn't a bead or something like that... so do they reckon he's shoved some food up there?

It could be a solid object. Apparently what happens is mucous etc forms around it and thats what decays. I wish I could have taken a picture of it. Its the most vial thing I ahve ever seen. I take it it should look all pink and nice. His was green and it had what looked like a layer of decay, like rotting stuff all around it. It was really ugly.
I dont know why it never occured to me that it could be his nose. I had been treating his gut. Makes me feel bad for not getting him checked out sooner and the only reason I did is because of what Mums friend said. She said that sometimes bad breath can be caused my ear problems. And I know Trae didnt have ear issues but I just wanted to cross it off the list. And the nurse did his blood sugar as well and then checked his sinuses. It was a last minute thing to look inside his nose and I am so pleased he did. I cant imagine what would have happened over time and I have since heard of people who have had sinus damage because of it.
So I am guessing for the surgery they will give him a strong AB afterwards. He is pretty good with probiotics now, but I will get some for after maybe. Also I guess I need to get some more vit c and just keep him strong and healthy.
BTW, I think the reason it never got really septic is because I have been washing his mouth out with H2O2 regulary and making him brush 3x a day as well as daily probiotics, manuka honey, vit c, eutherol. Far out, I am so glad its going to be fixed on Saturday.
I dont like the idea of surgery, but I know in this case its the only way.

Best cure I ever had for halitosis was when a schoolmate advised me to eat a lemon. I had had days of the worst bad breath I've ever experienced. All the listerine mouthwashes hadn't worked.
But the lemon did.
